Cat. #00520311: JAMESON THOMAS

Extremely rare vintage 7.2 x 9-inch black and white portrait in military attire for an unknown silent film, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen. Also signed along the lower border by the photographer. Some heavy surface creasing a a few gentle patches of silvering; otherwise, in fine condition for its age. Before his death of tuberculosis at the age of 50, nasty-looking English stage and screen actor Jameson Thomas played typically unsavory, scheming or downright nasty authority figures in classic films like Jungle Woman (1926), The Farmer's Wife (1928), Piccadilly (1929), The Devil Plays (1931), James Whale's The Invisible Man (1933), It Happened One Night (1934), The Scarlet Empress (1934), Jane Eyre (1934), The Man Who Reclaimed His Head (1934), Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935), The Lady in Scarlet (1935), The Lives of Bengal Lancer (1935), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), and The League of Frightened Men (1937).
